The suspension is over. On Sunday, February 2nd, the Super Bowl LIV took place. Kanas City Chiefs against the San Francisco 49ers took the field in Miami. Chiefs received the ball in the first half, and 49ers scored a field goal on their first drive. It didn’t take long for the Chiefs to answer back with a touchdown.
Then the 49ers came back and scored a touchdown. Chiefs did the same thing, but they scored a field goal as well, which led to a tie ball game at halftime, putting the score at 10 to 10. After what many call an “epic” halftime performance by Shakira and Jennifer Lopez, it was back to football.
The 49ers received the ball, and in that third quarter they took the lead 20 to 10. They continued to lead the game all the way up until there was 2:44 left in the fourth quarter. Then, the Chiefs answered back and took over the lead at 24 to 20. After this, the Chiefs were unstoppable.
The 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo threw 219 yards for 1 touchdown, and the Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes II threw 286 yards for 2 touchdowns. The Chiefs finally beat the curse to win the Super Bowl after a long 50 years since their last Super Bowl victory. With a final score of 31 to 20, the Chiefs reclaimed their title as Super Bowl champions, and Mahomes made history by being the youngest quarterback to win a Super Bowl (CNN, 2020).
